MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Government employees belonging to Laborers Local 17 and the Teamsters Probation Unit are likely to have new contracts y next week.  The county legislature, meeting in Executive Committee on Tuesday, approved the agreements. They replace expired contracts.
A formal vote by the full legislature is expected at next week’s monthly meeting.
Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez said these two pacts are fair to both the workers and county residents.
There are still other unions that need new contracts, Alvarez said.
“There are two more unions to negotiate – the corrections officers and the teamsters, which we hope will settle soon,” he said.
Corrections officers at the jail have been without a contract for about six years.
Money to cover the new contracts is included in the 2019 county budget.
