GOSHEN – A Vernon, New Jersey man pled guilty before Orange County Court Judge Robert Freehill to aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the deaths of two women who were passengers in a car he was driving.
Christopher Perrella, 32, was traveling on Glenwood Road in the Town of Warwick on November 4, 2017 when his car crashed into a house. His friend, the friend’s fiancée and his girlfriend were passengers in the vehicle. The two women were killed.
Perrella was charged with driving while his ability to operate a car was impaired by both alcohol and marijuana.
The two couples were in Warwick visiting a possible wedding venue.
As part of the plea agreement, the district attorney’s office recommended that the court, sentence Perrella to six to 18 years in state prison but the court stated it would sentence him to no more than five to 15 years in prison.
“What should have been a trip planning one of the most joyous events in life, turned into a tragedy because of this defendant’s decision to drive while intoxicated,” said DA David Hoovler.
