CORTLANDT – State Police arrested a Croton-on-Hudson man on felony
charges of criminal impersonation of a police officer and attempted grand
larceny.
Troopers charged Marcelo Abila, 41, after they were alerted on Tuesday to a man in the Woodybrook area of Cortlandt claiming to be a police officer and demanding money.
Abila was wearing a “NYPD” baseball cap when he knocked on a person’s door and claimed to be a Croton police officer and demanded money of the victim, who refused and called State Police.
Abila was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000.
