Bus driver charged in hit-and-run pedestrian fatality

NEWBURGH – A Wallkill woman has been charged with the felony of
leaving the scene of a personal injury accident in connection with a fatal
hit-and-run incident on Robinson Avenue in the City of Newburgh early
Wednesday.

City Police said the male victim was found in the area of 301 Robinson
at around 5:45 a.m.

State Police were called in to assist in reconstruction of the accident
and a short time into the investigation, detectives determined the involved
vehicle was a passenger bus driven by Deborah Berrios.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending notification of relatives.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are looking for witnesses
who may have been in the area of 301 Robinson between 5:30 a.m. and 6
a.m. on November 28.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and Medical Examiner’s
Office also assisted in the investigation.
