WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon was arraigned on a series of charges related to a stolen vehicle, a high-speed chase with police and ramming a police cruiser Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2018. George Smith, 39, appeared in Mount Vernon City Court on Tuesday and was sent to Westchester County Jail.
Smith is charged with assault, criminal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment, all as felonies.
Westchester County Police arrested Smith Sunday morning after leading police on a chase that took them from Mount Vernon into the Bronx. During the chase, smith crashed his stolen car into a police patrol car.
Smith was stopped about an hour later by police the Bronx.
