POUGHKEEPSIE – A 32-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested on Friday
and charged with murder in connection with the death of his former wife
on Thursday.

State Police were called to a home near All Angels Hill Road in the Town
of Wappinger at around 11 p.m. where they found Terrie DeGelormo, 34,
stabbed to death.

Investigation led to the arrest of Timothy Alexander on Friday. He reportedly
turned himself in to police.

“This was a heartbreaking tragedy, where a young mother lost her
life, due to domestic violence,” said State Police Captain John
Ryan.

Alexander was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail pending
a future court appearance.

It is believed that Alexander was a sworn officer in the sheriff’s
office and that DeGelormo had been employed there in a support staff role
until she recently changed jobs and went to work at Dutchess Community
College.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call State Police
at 845-677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.

State Police were assisted by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s
Office and the New Hackensack Fire Department.
