TOWN OF WALLKILL – Fire at a home at 78 Jasmine Drive in the Wildflowers at Wallkill over-55 development in the Town of Wallkill early Monday was contained to the attic.
Silver Lake Fire Chief Joe Morstatt said residents of the home escaped
unharmed. No injuries were reported.
Morstatt said the remainder of the building sustained significant smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Orange County Office of Fire Investigators but appears to be accidental, Morstatt said.
Assisting at the scene of the two-alarm fire were the Circleville, Mechanicstown and Middletown fire departments. Goshen was called to the scene for additional manpower while Howells and Montgomery fire departments were standing by at the Silver Lake Firehouse. Also involved in the effort were the Town of Wallkill Police Department and Building Department, Orange and Rockland Utilities, Mobil Life Support Services ambulance, and the Orange County Fire Coordinator’s Office.
