New Corwin Bridge opens in Mount Hope

MOUNT HOPE – The Corwin Bridge over the Shawangunk Kill in the Town of Mount Hope was opened to traffic over the weekend following a rebuild using repurposed deck panels from another bridge.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said that saved the county a sizeable amount of money.
“It saved about $160,000 by utilizing some of the panels from the former Tappan Zee Bridge,” he said, crediting the county public works and bridge divisions for making that happen.
Orange County obtained 14 of the old TZ Bridge deck panels, each worth about $55,000. They will be used to build four highway bridges and two rail-to-trail bridges.
