RHINEBECK – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious one-car rollover accident on Middle Road in Rhinebeck. It happened around 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 18.
Captain John Watterson said preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Cherokee driven by James Krinitsky, 16, of Red Hook, was traveling on Middle Road near Pitcher Road when he lost control causing the vehicle to overturn.
The front seat passenger, Christopher Knapp, 16, of Red Hook, suffered serious head injuries; Krinitsky and a rear seat passenger, Louis Lederer, 15, of Red Hook, sustained minor injuries. All three were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.  Knapp was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
Unsafe speed combined with a lack of driving experience appear to be the primary factors in the crash.
