Two welfare fraud arrests in Ulster County

KINGSTON – As part of Ulster County’s zero tolerance anti-fraud, waste and abuse program, two people were arrested last Thursday on unrelated welfare fraud charges.
Kayla Schiskey of Kingston was arrested and charged with the felonies of welfare fraud and nine counts of offering a false instrument for filing. She allegedly filed several shelter verification forms, along with SNAP and Temporary Assistance re-certifications containing false information with the Department of Social Services between December 2016 and May 2018. That resulted in Schiskey receiving $5,400 in Temporary Assistance benefits and $2,725 in SNAP Benefits to which she was not entitled.
Kimberly Hicks of Ellenville was arrested on charges of welfare fraud,
grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing. She was charged
with failing to report income from September 2017 to August 2018 resulting
in her receiving $1,767 in SNAP benefits for which she was not entitled.
