MONTICELLO – Comprehensive energy efficiency upgrades at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello have been completed reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 487 tons annually – the equivalent of taking 104 cars off the roads – and saving close to $115,000 a year in energy and maintenance costs.
New York Power Authority conducted the upgrades, costing $2.75 million,
that were financed and implemented by the agency.
The upgrades included installation of high-efficiency rooftop heating and cooling units, installation of efficient boilers, and LED lighting upgrades to interior and exterior lighting.
Other work includes the installation of a building management system, which allows for greater monitoring and control of the building’s heating, ventilation and other systems.
The county will repay NYPA the cost of the project through the energy savings that result from the energy efficiency measures. The county is expected to achieve a payback on its energy efficiency investment in roughly eight years, according to officials.
