Several races on the ballot this primary day

MID-HUDSON – A number of primary elections will be decided today as voters registered to specific political parties chose between candidates.
On the state level, Hudson Valley Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, a Democrat, is one of four candidates for Attorney General.  Maloney would drop his bid to keep his House seat if survives the primary. 
Five Democrats are vying for their party line on the November ballot for the 104th Assembly District, including Ralph Coates, Jonathan Jacobson, Alexander Kelly, Kevindaryan Lujan and Jodi McCredo.
Two Democrats are vying for the party line in the 42nd State Senate District race – Pramilla Malick and Jennifer Metzger.
The race for the Democratic line in the Ulster County Sheriff’s race pits Juan Figueroa against incumbent Paul VanBlarcum, who was dumped by the Dems but has Republican and Conservative endorsements.
In the City of Newburgh, incumbent Mayor Torrance Harvey and former councilwoman Gay Lee are vying for the Democratic line for the mayor’s post.
In the 39th State Senate District race, Democrat Assemblyman James Skoufis’
name will appear on the Reform Party line with an opportunity for others
to write in a candidate. The same scenario exists for Ann Rabbitt, the
current Orange County Clerk, who is running on the Republican line for
the 42nd State Senate seat, but whose name will also appear today on the
Reform Party line with an opportunity for other people’s names to
be written in.
Mid-Hudson Congressman Sean Maloney is among the field of Democratic
candidates for New York State attorney general. Should he win today’s
primary, he will step away from his congressional re-election bid.
