Police are at 62 Montgomery Street in Poughkeepsie, where a shooting
suspect was holed up

POUGHKEEPSIE – A multi-agency SWAT team surrounded a house at 62
Montgomery Street in the City of Poughkeepsie Wednesday night as a shooting
suspect was holed up inside. About two hours later, police cleared the
scene.

Some time around 7:30 p.m. a person was shot twice – once in the
chest and once in the leg in the area of 82 Academy Street.

The suspect fled and gained access to a nearby building as police from
several agencies converged on the area with a K-9. Two hostage negotiators
were also on the scene as they attempt to convince the suspect to surrender.

About 9:30 p.m., after police announced their presence outside the house
and then forcibly gained entry, the scene was cleared with one suspect
believed to have been taken into custody.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in a semi-conscious condition.
