Fallsburg man killed in Route 17 Mamakating crash

MAMAKATING – A 23-year-old
Mamakating man was killed late Saturday night when the car in which he
was riding rolled over when the driver took evasive action to avoid hitting
another vehicle that had entered her lane of travel.

The incident that claimed the life of Omar Espinoza occurred at around
11:40 p.m. on Route 17 east of exit 112 in the Town of Mamakating.

Witnesses told State Police an unidentified vehicle entered into the lane
of travel of the car driven by Sayra Lemus, 22, of Fallsburg. She was
transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill
with minor injuries.

There were four passengers in the car; three in the rear were ejected
with Espinoza pronounced dead at the scene.

The other injured passengers were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital
in Poughkeepsie and Orange Regional, all with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers are asking anyone with information about the accident to call
State Police at Liberty at 845-292-6600.
