MIDDLETOWN – A 27-year-old
Middletown man is in Orange Regional Medical Center in stable condition
after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle Thursday evening
at around 8:45. State Police responded to the hospital and learned the
shooting took place on Monhagen Avenue in the City of Middletown so the
case was turned over to city police.
The investigation is continuing; however, police said a man is currently
in custody as a suspect and is expected to be charged. No other individuals
are being sought and there is no risk to the public, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed the shooting was not a random act,
but rather took place during a dispute between the two at 224 Monhagen
Avenue.
The men are reportedly known acquaintances of each other.
