Another prison sentence in murder during botched robbery

GOSHEN – Another Newburgh man has been sentenced in connection with the murder of Raul Diaz-Martinez, 63, in his City of Newburgh home on June 21, 2017.
Dejoire Fox, 21, was sentenced on Thursday by Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo to 20 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.
Fox pled guilty admitting that he entered the victim’s apartment with the intent to rob him. Fox admitted that he was armed with a gun and shot Diaz-Martinez, who later died.
Omarrio Morrison, 26, and Tyrees Canigan, 17, both of Newburgh, had also been charged. Morrison was sentenced on August 29 to 27 2/3 years in prison on a murder conviction. Canigan, who was the lookout for the robbery, pled guilty to attempted robbery and will be sentenced in September.
