Former employee charged with stealing over $225,000 from business

WHITE PLAINS – A former accounts receivable specialist for New Castle Building Products in the Town of Greenburgh has been charged with felony grand larceny for stealing from her former employer.
In her role with the company, Celina Collazo, 39, of the Bronx was responsible for, among other things, receiving customer payments, posting receipts to the appropriate customer’s accounts, preparing deposits to be brought to the bank, and reviewing checks to be deposited.
Collazo allegedly stole cash payments made by customers and then covered up the thefts by entering both fabricated checks and inflated check amounts into the company’s account ting system.
From about July 1, 2014 through March 1 2017, she stole approximately $225,450 from New Castle Building Products.
Bail was previously set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
The investigation was worked on jointly with Greenburgh Police and is being prosecuted by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office Economic Crimes Bureau.
