MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Veterans Service Agency and the
Community Garden Club of Liberty have installed a Blue Star Memorial Marker
at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello.
The marker is “a fitting tribute to our service members past and present, from a group, the Garden Club, that is similarly invested in protecting and enhancing the place they call home,” said Veterans Agency Director John Crotty.
The market will be formally dedicated at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 9.
Garden Club member Judy Bergstrom, chairwoman of the Blue Star Memorial Committee, said they intend to maintain a small section of the government center law “constantly reminding passersby to never forget the deep sacrifices made by those serving in our armed forces – and their loved ones.”
