SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties woman was arrested on Friday and again
on Saturday, in the Village of Saugerties on harassment charges.

At 7:11 on Friday evening, police responded to 5 Simmons Street, Apartment
14 for several harassing phone calls placed to the Ulster County 911 center
as well as numerous harassing calls placed to the Saugerties Police emergency
phone number.

All of the calls were placed by 39-year-old Christine Diliberto, who was
highly intoxicated. When she was questioned as to why she was tying up
the emergency phone lines, she attempted to tackle a female officer, slammed
the officer with her body and tried to grab her arms.

The officer took her into custody and charged her with harassment, was
taken into custody under state mental health law and transported to Health
Alliance Hospital’s Broadway campus for possible alcohol poisoning.

At 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to her home again for a report
of a woman claiming harassment through another person.

Investigators interviewed Diliberto and determined her claim of harassment
to be unfounded.

Diliberto, who was intoxicated, became abusive to officers and threatened
to shoot them.

She was taken into custody for harassment and placed in a police car to
be transported to police headquarters at which point she kicked the police
cruiser several times damaging the vehicle.

Police charged Diliberto with harassment and reckless endangerment of
property.

She was released on appearance tickets returnable to Saugerties Village
Justice Court.
