KINGSTON – Because of higher than anticipated revenue from off-street parking meters, the City of Kingston’s allotment for each of its three business districts has been increased to more than was originally anticipated.
Mayor Steven Noble said for the Uptown, Midtown and Downtown areas revenues
have increased by one third.
“We are now putting even more money into this program so instead of $10,000 per business district as we first suggested to the common council last year, we are now putting $15,000 in instead,” the mayor said.
How to spend that money will be up to the businesses in those districts in the first participatory budgeting in Kingston, Noble said.
