Roff

KINGSTON – A Plattekill man was sentenced on Friday to the felony of criminal sex act for engaging in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old.
Sean Roff, 26, received the maximum sentence allowed by law, seven years in prison, followed by 10 years of post-release supervision. He will also be required to register for a minimum of 20 years as a sex offender and an order of protection was issued in favor of the victim until 2033.
Roff was arrested by State Police from the Highland barracks on July 23, 2017 following an investigation. He was indicted in December for rape and criminal sexual act for crimes committed in mid-July of last year at his home.
The victim’s father spoke at the sentencing, stating, “Unfortunately, my daughter will have to live with this disgusting memory for the rest of her life. No amount of jail time could ever make up for that.” The father called Roff “a pig, and a piece of garbage. I pray you serve every day of your life hating yourself for what you have done.
“As is often the case, this defendant took advantage of and violated the trust placed in him through a close relationship with the victim’s guardians,” said District Attorney Holley Carnright.   He said the victim had “great courage to participate in this prosecution and for that should be applauded.”
