Harvey has the
Democrat line to
himself

NEWBURGH – There will be no Democratic primary election for mayor of Newburgh next month as candidate Gay Lee’s petitions were ruled invalid.
That leaves Mayor Torrance Harvey to run as the Democrat in November. He will also appear on the Working Families Party line.
Lee will still be in the running as she will appear on the Independence and Reform Party lines.
Harvey, a former city councilman, has been mayor since this spring when Mayor Judy Kennedy died. He believes the current city government team is doing well.
“Only a few months on the job the inroads and the progress that me and the entire council has made along with the city manager and city government is evident,” Harvey said.
November’s mayoral election will fill the final year of Kennedy’s four-year term. This time next year, candidates will run for a full term.
