WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Executive George Latimer commenced a community liaison initiative through the planning department to provide a link between the county agency and local municipalities.
The goal is to help them meet their needs, including planning and zoning, grant applications, identifying best practices and providing referrals to other county government services.
Latimer said the initiative is part of his Good Neighbor Policy to keep lines of communication open between county government and the 45 municipalities in Westchester. “I want our local communities to feel like they are supported and can get the answers they need about government services and best practices,” he said.
The initiative benefits everyone involved, said county Planning Commissioner Norma Drummond. “The planning department staff all volunteered to take on the various communities they had knowledge of and are looking forward to expanding that knowledge and establishing a working relationship with each municipality,” Drummond said.
Lending his support to the initiative, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said, “thoughtful regional planning is essential to our economy, environment and quality of life.”
