WHITE PLAINS – A Purdys man was convicted by a Westchester County Court jury of eight crimes related to two sexual attacks on women in Northern Westchester in 2016.
On June 3, 2016 at about midnight, Ronal Sandoval-Campos, 26, allegedly broke into a 42-year-old Mount Kisco woman’s home while she was sleeping and attacked her in her bed. During the struggle, she took a gray baseball hat off his head as he fled.
On August 21, 2016, at about 8 a.m., a 19-year-old woman arrived at the Purdys Metro-North train station after commuting from New York City. As she walked through the stairwell and platform heading to the parking lot, she was approached by Sandoval-Campos, who grabbed her, restrained her and groped her body attempted to remove her clothing and exposing himself.
A Good Samaritan in the parking lot responded to the victim’s screams and prevented her rape.
Sandoval-Campos ran from the scene dropping an orange baseball cap he was wearing.
DNA from both caps linked him to both crimes.
He is to be sentenced in September and could face up to 30 years in state prison. Hew will have to register as a sex offender when released.
