POUGHKEEPSIE – A second
day of searching the Hudson River off Poughkeepsie on Wednesday turned
up no sign of 49-year-old Paul Machettia, the man believed missing since
Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said he entered the river to assist another man who was swimming
and because distressed. Machettia has not been seen since.
Sheriff’s patrol boats and divers from Dutchess and Ulster counties
and the State Police have been searching the river for two days.
Efforts will resume on Thursday.
