VILLAGE OF FLORIDA – A Village of Florida teen was killed late Monday night when the car he was driving crashed.
Warwick Town Police Lt. John Rader said the accident occurred around 10:35 p.m. John Guerra, 17, was driving a Honda Civic south on Union Corners Road near Wheeler Road in the Village of Florida. The vehicle ran off the roadway, rolled over and came to rest against a tree.
Guerra, who was to be a senior at SS Seward in Florida this fall, was a star basketball player and had just left practice when the accident occurred.
The victim, who was alone in the vehicle, died at the scene.
State Police, Florida Fire Department, Warwick Ambulance and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
