WHITE PLAINS – A Westchester County grand jury indicted a Bronx man on charges that he stole the identity of an attorney with the US Department of Justice and then used that ID to finance two BMWs at a car dealership in Greenburgh.
Anthony Williams, 29, was charged in a 19-count indictment with two counts each of grand larceny and identity theft, and three counts each of forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument and falsifying business records, all as felonies.
Williams allegedly stole the ID and was able to fraudulently purchase the vehicles on two separate dates at the dealership by producing a forged Maryland driver’s license in the name of the DOJ attorney.
The two vehicles, a BMW 650xi and a BMW X6, had sales values totaling $186,367.
Williams pled not guilty and was remanded to the Westchester County jail without bail. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
