Start of a prior run
MIDDLETOWN – Saturday, August 18 will mark the 13th Annual Run 4 Downtown in the City of Middletown.
The run-walk event, which raises funds for the city, is the brainchild of David and Anna Madden, owners of the Something Sweet dessert café.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano noted the annual event has resulted in tens of thousands of dollars for the city.
“During that period of time, they have raised $70,000 of which almost $60,000 has already been expended in park improvements, one being the stage we are on, the clock, and the sign at North Street and Wickham Avenue and also future improvements that will include in Erie Park, which is being planned behind City Hall,” the mayor said on Wednesday.
The walk-run event will follow a four-mile course through Middletown’s downtown.
