Noonan, from his days
as a legislator

GARDINER – Former Ulster County Legislator Glenn Noonan died suddenly at his Gardiner home on Friday, July 6.
Noonan, who was 61, was a county legislator for 14 years, holding the position of minority leader. He also chaired many committees during his tenure. Until his retirement, he was a local real estate broker.
County Legislator Richard Gerentine served with Noonan years ago.
“Glenn was a very independent thinker,” Gerentine said. “He represented his community very well. Sometimes he sought his own drum, whatever that might be, but he was an asset to the county in regarding being a county legislator,”
Sheriff Paul VanBlarcum said Noonan “will always be remembered as a friend and supporter of this agency and law enforcement in general.”
Noonan volunteered at and supported the Brookside School. One of the highlights for him was playing Santa Claus for the school children. He was also a recipient of the Brookside Golden Heart Award.
His sister, Colleen Noonan Blake, said she will miss “his quick wit and warm smile.” He is also survived by his wife, Lee Ann, four daughters and their spouses, three grandchildren, a sister and brother.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Copeland Funeral Home in New Paltz. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 13 at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Church in New Paltz.
