Unlicensed teen driver charged in motorcyclist’s death

NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh fire department responded to a vehicular hit and run accident near South and Lander streets about 11:30 Friday night involving a motorcycle. The male operator of the motorcycle was found unresponsive in the roadway and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Newburgh Police located the vehicle involved. Town of New Windsor resident Quamir Johnson, 16, was arrested and charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and with violations of being an unlicensed driver and failing to yield the right of way. He was held pending arraignment at an unspecified time today.
This incident is still being investigated and no further information is being released at this time.
