Yonkers man sentenced in fatal hit-and-run

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced to serve six months in the Westchester County Jail and five years of probation for the hit-and-run death of a man in September 2016.
Junior Silverio-Ventura, who was 19 at the time of the incident, pled guilty in March 2018 to a felony charge of criminally negligent homicide in the death of Zachary Dunn, 18, of Yonkers.
Silverio-Ventura was driving early in the morning on Labor Day, September 5, 2016 on the saw Mill River Parkway near the McLean Avenue exit in Yonkers when his car crashed into the rear of Dunn’s disabled vehicle. Dunn and a passenger were in the car. Dunn was critically injured and later died. The passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Silverio-Ventura drove away from the crash scene.
He had been returning home from a night out in Manhattan with a group of friends in three cars at the time of the crash. The car he was driving was unregistered.
