TOWN OF LLOYD – A high-speed police chase on Route 299 in the Town
of Lloyd Sunday evening ended when a Porsche SUV traveling at speeds up
to 100 miles per hour, would not pull over, ultimately crashing at the
intersection with Elting Corners Road. Several vehicles were involved.
One person was killed in the crash, said Troop F State Police spokesman
Trooper Steven Nevel.
The Porsche crashed head-on into a black pickup truck, sending that
vehicle flying down the road. A Toyota Prius rear-ended the Porsche. One
or two other damaged vehicles, with airbags deployed, were stopped along
the sides of the road.
Route 299 was shut down in the area until early this morning as State
Police conducted their investigation.
Highland firefighters were at the scene assisting.
