Warrant search leads to arrest of Newburgh man

NEWBURGH – A Newburgh man was arrested on Tuesday, June 26 following a narcotics investigation and the execution of a search warrant at 253 South Williams Street in the City of Newburgh.
Sheldon Tompson, 33, was arrested on three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as three counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of marijuana, all as misdemeanors.
During the warrant search, police seized some 16 grams of crack cocaine, 17 grams of cocaine, five grams of heroin and eight ounces of marijuana.
Tompson was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond.
The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort by the State Police Troop F and Newburgh City Police. The agencies were assisted at the scene by the Newburgh City Fire Department and Code Enforcement Office.
