GOSHEN – A Montgomery woman was sentenced by Orange County Court Judge William DeProspo to six years in state prison and post-release supervision for having had sex with a boy under the age of 17 while she was a teacher’s aide. The crimes Mary Thompson, 46,committed were not alleged to have been related to her employment.
Thompson was convicted after a bench trial of two counts each of rape,
criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that on February 17, 2017 and again on February 20, 2017, she had taken the underage boy to a motel room where they spent the night engaging in sexual activity.
District Attorney David Hoovler said Thompson “took advantage of a teenager, and knowingly acted in a manner that she knew would be injurious to his mental and moral welfare.” He said for that conduct, “she deserved to be sentenced to state prison.”
Hoovler said it is also disturbing that she was a teacher’s aide at the time she committed the crimes.
