POUGHKEEPSIE – Asahishuzo
International Company has applied to the Dutchess County Industrial Development
Agency for financial incentives as it plans to build a $26.4 million sake
brewery in Hyde Park.

The facility would be located in the vacant Stop and Shop supermarket
not far from the Culinary Institute of America.

On Wednesday, the IDA Board accepted the company’s preliminary application
in which it is seeking a real property tax PILOT, mortgage tax exemption
and sales tax exemption on building materials for the redevelopment at
5 Saint Andrews Road.

This would be the first brewery in the United States created by the Japanese
company, which will partner with the CIA for development and educational
purposes.
