Federal rural public transportation project funding announced

ALBANY – The Mid-Hudson
region is going to be the beneficiary of federal funds for rural public
transportation. The grants will be administered by the State Department
of Transportation.

Dutchess County will receive $223,000 in operating assistance. Orange
County will receive $637,000 in operating assistance and $116,000 to replace
two transit buses.

Putnam County will receive $185,000 in operating assistance.

Sullivan County will receive $47,000 in operating assistance and $78,000
to purchase one transit bus to expand service.

Ulster County will receive $362,000 in operating assistance and $522,000
to replace four transit buses.

Columbia County will receive $148,000 in operating assistance.

Greene County will receive $239,000 in operating assistance and $256,000
for projects that support mobility.

“With today’s investment, we are able to support essential
public transportation services that enhance mobility and strengthen communities
by modernizing buses, facilities and other related capital equipment and
improvements,” said Acting State Transportation Commissioner Paul
Karas. “Public transportation investment is a key component of strong
local economies throughout New York.”
