KINGSTON – The City of Kingston’s effort to digitize the last 50 years of birth, death and marriage certificates is expected to be finished in about six weeks.  The project, which began several months ago, is funded with a state grant of some $48,000.
City Clerk/Registrar Carly Winnie said vital records date back to 1881.
“We have people come in for some of the older copies for genealogy purposes when they are researching their ancestry,” Winnie said.
The city hopes to digitize the older records in the future subject to getting another state grant.
