MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Treasurer Nancy Buck knows full well the importance of organ donation.
Several years ago when she was deputy treasurer, she donated a kidney to then-County Treasurer Ira Cohen. He died years later, but Buck said Friday she is living proof of the importance and success of organ transplants.
Buck manned a table in the lobby of the county government center in Monticello, urging people to sign up as organ donors.
Deputy County Manager Daniel Depew heeded her call and checked a DMV form authorizing organ transplantation to be noted on his driver’s license. “Caring matters; we are one human race,” he said.
Both Buck and Depew donned lime green “Donate Life” t-shirts to call attention to the effort.
