HAMPTONBURGH – Two-thirds
of the 350-acre site proposed in the Town of Hamptonburgh for a 1.2 million
square foot warehouse-distribution center for the Medline company would
remain forever green under a proposal by developer Zvi Segal of Wappinger.
The 149-acres on which the facility would be constructed as Hudson Valley Crossing 2, is abutted on three sides by large expanses of green space, said Josh Sommers, a spokesman for the project.
“This plan provides 250 acres of 350 acres that would remain in a conservation easement and that would mean that the majority of the development would remain green forever while creating nearly $2 million in tax rateables and a total of 500 jobs,” Sommers said. “We hope this is palatable to the neighbors and that the town board in Hamptonburgh believes this will be a compliment to the community.”
While the proposal was not on the town board agenda Monday night, several residents spoke out against the plan.
The remaining side, 170-acres, currently consists of Hudson Valley Crossing One, home to three other companies – McKesson, Carlisle and PharmaCannis.
