Former Middletown council president dies

MIDDLETOWN – Former Middletown City Alderman and Common Council President John Dino, Sr. has died. He passed away on Monday at age 96.
Dino’s political career saw him rise to the top of the legislative branch of Middletown city government.
He was a well-respected council member and mentor to many of the younger men and women aspiring to enter public service.
Over the years, Dino owned a fur shop, drove a taxi and sold insurance. He also ran a clothing business with his brother, Oscar, and later managed the women’s clothing department at Lloyd’s Shopping Center in the Town of Wallkill, as well as worked at Kassel Brother’s clothing store and Foeller’s Men’s Shop.
He was also active in service organizations, his church and was an avid antique car admirer. He was also a 50-year member of the McQuoid Engine Company.
