CLAVERACK – A Copake Falls woman was arrested on a charge of driving while impaired by drugs after she swerved into oncoming traffic on Route 23 in the Town of Claverack at mid-morning on Monday and sideswiped a logging truck coming in the other direction.
The driver of the truck attempted to avoid being hit and as the driver swerved to get out of the way, the vehicle flipped onto its side after striking a culvert on the side of the road, tipping its load.
The car, driven by Denise White, 53, continued for a short distance before driving off the road and striking a culvert. White was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right and failure to use a designated lane.
Both White and the truck driver, Damon Filli, 39, of Claverack, were evaluated at the scene and declined additional treatment.
