STEWART AIRPORT – Fixed base operator Signature Flight Support is expected to start construction of its new 28,000 square foot hangar and terminal at Stewart International Airport in July.
The company, which currently has a smaller presence at the Newburgh area airport, has signed a 35-year lease with the Port Authority for land just north of the passenger terminal, said airport Business Development Director Michael Torelli.
“That will be one of the first private developments that we have seen happen here since we began operating here in November 2007,” Torelli said. “Signature is the largest FBO in the world, and I think they have some aggressive plans here.”
Stewart has two FBOs. The other is Atlantic Aviation.
Fixed base operators provide refueling, ground services and other assistance to the commercial and general aviation community.
