GOSHEN – A Middletown man was sentenced in Orange County Court
on Monday to 12 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision
following his guilty plea to the crime of first-degree possession of drugs
for having over eight ounces of crack cocaine in his possession.
Jmin Ward, 36, admitted that he possessed the drugs at his 41 Woodlake
Drive home in the City of Middletown in April of last year. The cocaine
was discovered with Middletown officers, aided by the Orange County sheriff’s
Special Operations Group, executed a search warrant at Ward’s residence.
Police also seized drug paraphernalia including scales and packaging materials.
“Major narcotics dealers deserve lengthy state prison sentences
and this defendant’s conduct merited his being sentenced to 12 years
in state prison,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
