Stahli

ALBANY – The murder conviction of Kenneth Stahli, who was convicted
in Ulster County Court in May 2015 of killing two-year-old Mason DeCosmo,
has been affirmed by the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court.
Stahli bludgeoned the child to death on August 5, 2014.

The investigation revealed Stahli was the toddler’s primary daytime
care provider; he was the boyfriend of Mason’s mother. The child
was discovered non-responsive by his aunt.

The investigation revealed Mason had suffered several blunt force traumas
including more than 80 visible bruises, internal injuries to his brain,
spine and eyes, and died as a result of internal bleeding, which was caused
by a lacerated liver and pancreas.

Stahli was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. On appeal, he argued
the verdict was against the weight of evidence and that the sentence was
excessive.

The appeals court rejected each of Stahli’s arguments.
