GOSHEN – The US Department of Homeland Security and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office are in discussions about the federal agency partnering to make improvements and train at the county’s shooting range.
Sheriff Carl DuBois sees it as a positive step forward in law enforcement
preparedness.
“It will be a state-of-the-art facility with state-of-the-art training, cutting edge technology,” the sheriff said. “What better partner could we have than the Department of Homeland Security? We are all concerned about counter-terrorism; we are all concerned about our schools, our businesses. It dovetails perfectly with our active shooter training and our posture of keeping our community safe.”
The county legislature’s Public Safety Committee was briefed on the proposal on Thursday.
