FORT MONTGOMERY – Two
women have been arrested by Highlands Town Police on felony drug charges
following a traffic stop for speeding on Route 9W north in Fort Montgomery.
The stop on Saturday, February 10 revealed that the driver, Skye Johnson,
19, of New Windsor was driving while her license was suspended.
Further investigation revealed Johnson and her passenger, Tysha Stevens,
22, of Newburgh, were in possession of marijuana, a large amount of heroin
weighing over seven ounces and cash. The heroin has an estimated street
value of some $50,000.
Both Johnson and Stevens were charged with felony drug possession and
a violation of possession of marijuana. They were remanded to the Orange
County Jail without bail. Skye was also charged with aggravated unlicensed
operation of a motor vehicle and speeding in a zone.
Assisting Town of Highlands Town Police at the scene were State Park Police,
Village of Highland Falls Police and a City of Newburgh Police K-9 unit.
