YORKTOWN – Two16-year-old
Lakeland High School students have been arrested and charged with falsely
reporting an incident as a felony.
The girls, both from Mohegan Lake, allegedly wrote a bomb threat on the
wall in a girl’s bathroom at the high school on February 1.

As a result of the threat, the school was evacuated and searched by members
of the Yorktown Police Department and Westchester County Department of
Public Safety Bomb Squad, accompanied by explosive detection canines.

The search did not reveal any explosive devices.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, one of the girls was arrested
on February 5 outside her Amazon Road home and the other voluntarily appeared
at Yorktown Police headquarters a short time later.

Both girls were released on their own recognizance to their parents and
are scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court later this month.
