GOSHEN – Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois is seeking re-election for a fifth term as the county’s top cop.
DuBois, a Republican, told supporters Thursday night that running the office is a monumental task accomplished with the aid of his support.
“A 24/7 operation covering cover 800 square miles, 400 employees, a $75 million budget, a 400,000 square-foot facility hosting 500 to 600, and maybe more, daily guests who really don’t want to be there, requires a manager and a staff who look upon their jobs as just that, jobs; they are not positions,” he said.
DuBois noted the sheriff’s office has been honored with the Triple Crown Award from the National Sheriff’s Association for three national accreditations – the 40th county nationwide out of 3,000 counties to get it.
Undersheriff Kenneth Jones said since DuBois was elected as sheriff, there have been “radical changes” for the better in the operation of the office.
