Putnam Valley man arrested for heroin possession



CARMEL – Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Putnam Valley man on misdemeanor drug charges and further investigation revealed he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Putnam County Court for felony drug possession.
Maher Jamal, 28, was a passenger in a suspicious vehicle near Bonie Wood Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley at 11 p.m. on January 11. He was found in possession o0f a quantity of what was believed to be heroin and prescription pills that were not issued to him.
Jamal was arrested on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a computer check revealed the active arrest warrant on felony drug charges.  He was sent to the Putnam County Jail on the warrant charge.
