NEW PALTZ – SUNY New Paltz started off this academic year with a $1.8 million deficit, but school officials hope to narrow that down.
College Vice President for Administration and Finance Michele Halstead
told a recent College Council session that increased tuition payments
by students should reduce that.
“What that will serve to do is reduce that $1.8 million by the amount we exceed the revenue target, so I am hopeful that it’s over a half-million dollars, maybe towards three-quarters of a million dollars that that would shrink,” Halstead said.
On the expenditure side of the budget, Halstead said travel spending is down and adjunct teaching staff is being reduced among the efforts to cut expenses.
